- John Street Jam, Saugerties NY - 2nd Saturday of the month at 7PM at the Dutch Arms Church on John Street, Saugerties, NY; song circle featuring acoustic musicians from the Hudson Valley. The Jam has gotten so popular that it's standing room only if you don't get there early. Think Austin City limits in the Hudson Valley!
- Colony Cafe, Woodstock NY - Hosting every different kind of original music from Bluegrass to Klezmer to songwriter legend Tom Pacheco THE place to go for original music in Woodstock.
- 60 Main Street, New Paltz NY - a.k.a. the New Paltz Cultural Collective, serving Fair Trade Coffee, art, local music and free wireless great place to hang out; bring your instrument, you'll never know who you'll meet there. Reminds me of the East Village in the early 70s!
- Unison Arts Center, New Paltz NY - A high end home town venue for fine touring musicians and performers. The LaBella strings sponsored Classical Guitar Series has brought some of the finest guitar players in the world to our very own Ulster County New York. I can't believe the caliber of musicians that have appeared here!
- Hudson Valley Music - a great website community focusing on the rather large Hudson Valley music community; by and for musicians, performers, club owners, bands, etc.
- Muddy Cup - This exciting new chain of local coffee houses are bound to give Starbucks a run for their money. With locations in Kingston NY, Hudson NY, Catskill NY, Albany NY, Beacon NY and soon to open in New Paltz NY and Poughkeepsie NY, it features big overstuffed couches and chairs straight from the Salvation Army, chess tables, and a dark ambiance circa Greenwich Village 1967. Oh yeah, it also has great live music and local artwork.
- Cabaloosa; New Paltz NY - The Oasis Room, hosts national touring bands as well as local talent. Tuesday night is jazz night, Wednesday is open mic night.
- Hudson Valley Folk GuildKingston NY and Poughkeepsie NY - open mic first Saturday of the month in Kingston at the Unitarian Church on Sawkill Road. Sometimes you really hear some really talented and professional singer/songwriters trying out new material before they hit the road. Sometimes, it's little Billy on his first public outing after Mom forced him to practice his piano. Hey you never know. But you always have a good time with great folks!
